Pet Care Coordinator

This position we are currently hiring for has both full-time and part-time openings. We are a 24-hour facility, so overnight shifts are also available. Must be willing to work flexible hours, including some weekends and holidays when needed. This is a Pet Care position with a great support staff and leadership team that you would be joining.
Safety is the responsibility of each individual and management expects all work to be done in a safe manner.

Toby Town RVA is a local, up and coming Doggy Daycare and Staycare facility, where the care and well-being of dogs is of utmost importance.

The ideal candidate for this opportunity will be:
- Dependable-Our furry friends are relying on you, and so are we! It is important to have strong attendance, attend staff meetings & trainings, and arrive on time to ensure a strong team environment.
- Attention to Detail-as a team, we want to make sure each guests’ needs are met. From medications to meals and play times to pampering, it is all in the details to make our guests’ stay the best it can be.
- Team Orientated – you want the best for the dogs that are staying with us and work as a team member to get that accomplished. You add to the conversation and brainstorm with fellow staff on ways to make the experience more enriching.

Basic Qualifications
- At least 1 year of Customer Service
- Strong Communication skills-Verbal and Written
- Strong Attention to detail
- Basic Computer Skills
- Demonstrate positive attitude towards dogs, co-workers and customers. Passion for animals. Humanely and gently handle animals at all times.
- Reliable-Must have strong attendance and reliable transportation
- Must be comfortable and able to work in an environment with dogs-both small and large
- The ability to lift at least 40 pounds, squat, stoop, bend, lift and move around
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working with animals a plus
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
As a part of our Pet Care Team, you are involved with all of the day-to-day activities that happen at our facility. You are the key to each pet’s stay, making sure everything they need is happening. You ensure our dog guests have a great vacation while their owners are away. As the primary contact person with our dog guests, you are responsible for:
Customer Service
- Greet clients with a friendly demeanor when receiving or returning a dog.
- Understand that you are a reflection of our facility every time you interact with a pet or human guest, and carry yourself in a professional demeanor.
Dog Care
- Making sure every guest is comfortable, happy and receiving all of the services that an owner requests.
- Document important stay information to provide for daily reports and file those reports on time.
- Feeding & Medications: Learn how to perform feedings accurately and pass on communication if dogs are not eating. Ensure dogs have fresh water at all times, administer medications as needed.
- Assist in the integration of new dogs into the play areas following the protocols. Learn and follow hand-off procedures
- Intake Daycare and Staycare dogs safely and in a controlled manner. Ensure that all belongings are reviewed and labeled by name, feeding/med instructions are provided and that all boarding check-in questions have been answered.
- Observe dogs for any and all odd behaviors, signs of illness, or injury, and escalate to Management when applicable
- Closely monitor the health and wellness of every guest. Observe dogs by feeling, looking at feet, ears, teeth, etc., so we can communicate to clients when a dog is in need of a nail trim, FUR-minator, paw treatment or if there’s anything concerning that a vet should look at.
- Making sure every guest goes home clean, happy and that we have exceeded the client’s expectation.
- Occasional grooming assistance
Facilities
- Maintaining the highest level of cleanliness in all areas of our facility and play yards.
- Daily duties including properly cleaning and disinfecting all enclosures, play yards, and common areas as well as general housekeeping throughout the entire facility.
- Depending on shift-cleaning the facility rooms including but not limited to: Vacuuming, Mopping, Dusting, etc.
- Cleaning up any accidents/messes that occur throughout the day
Teamwork/Communication
- Ensure that all notes are passed along to next shift’s teammate
- Communicate clearly with our leadership team
- Engage in team events/meetings
- Offer additional support to teammates
Hours: The facility is staffed 365 days a year and is exceptionally busy during all holidays and summer months. This position we are currently hiring for has both full-time and part-time openings. We are a 24-hour facility, so overnight shifts are also available. Must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
Compensation: Please note this is a small business, therefore we do not offer benefits at this time. Pay is based on relative experience, and starts at $10.00/hour.
