Grooming Tech
Canine Kingdom is a Grooming, Lodging and Play Care facility.
A Grooming Tech at Canine Kingdom provides high quality bathing, brushing and prep services. This job is foundational to the grooming process. We have an eye for detail and we work in a fast paced environment.
Our Grooming Techs have the knowledge and experience to confidently handle pets of all sizes in the bathing, drying and brushing process. We are passionate about helping every dog look their best. The Grooming Tech position is a chance to get hands on experience and training for your future grooming career!
We have an established client base, a beautiful facility, computerized record keeping, and a competent and helpful support staff.
We provide a dedicated grooming area with tables and cages, a large bathing tub, dryers, and all supplies needed to perform our services.
General Job Requirements
- Team members must have the physical strength and ability to lift a pet or other object weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance. Must be able to assist in lifting pets or other objects weighing more than 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work energetically for the entire assigned shift.
- Physical exertion will include repetitive standing, walking, stooping, bending, twisting, and lifting. Must be able to grasp, hold, and manipulate objects varying from small and fine to large and heavy with both hands.
- Team members must be able to safely and competently operate equipment pertinent to carrying out their duties.
- Team members must remain calm and compassionate with animals who may be uncomfortable with the grooming process.
- Team members must have excellent communication skills and a strong dedication to outstanding client service. They are expected to exceed client’s expectations for the quality of service provided from our facility. One must be able to remain compassionate and well-mannered under all circumstances.
- Maintain a neat professional appearance while at work, including a clean and unwrinkled uniform
- Must be responsible to work the schedule they are assigned. Excessive tardiness or absence is disruptive to pet care and client service and cannot be accommodated.
- All team members must be able to read, write legibly, and communicate clearly in English both in person and on the telephone with professionalism and tact. One must exhibit proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation during written communication.
- Basic computer literacy including the ability to type on a computer keyboard, use a computer mouse, and view information on a computer screen is required.
- Must be willing to be cross-trained in other areas of the facility; such as kennel, day camp and reception duties.
- Maintain and project a positive attitude about the facility, clients, pets and co-workers.
- Avoid gossiping, condemning, judging and making negative comments or participating in such discussions.
- Weekend work and holiday work is assigned on a rotation basis
Desired Skills or Willingness to Learn
- Basic knowledge of dog breeds and dog handling skills
- Team members will learn to view physical symptoms or concerns to note on the customer file.
- Must be able to respond and quickly react to frequent auditory signals, warnings, or communication from other staff, animals, or equipment.
- Providing for the comfort of pets and sanitation of the facility by keeping the grooming area clean and odor free is an essential part of the daily routine.
- Looking to further their career over time and become a Groomer
- Continuing education is an ongoing part of our training program
- Pay is hourly and depends on experience
